The Local People of Cyprus

The locals in Cyprus have always been known for their accommodating ways. That is because the island was and still is the crossroads for many peoples from around the globe. In Cyprus a stranger is just a friend you have not yet had the chance to get to know.

When you are here on the island you will soon adapt to the way of life where everything happens without haste. Things move slowly because that's the way the Cypriots like it to happen, so when you step off the plane and set foot on the tarmac, slow down and relax, it will do you good.

Each and every village in Cyprus has a unique flavour where things are done differently. In the days when donkey carts were the only form of transportation villagers didn't travel far so over time each location developed its own distinct way of life.

The island has proved irresistible to many famous historical personalities, such as Cleopatra, Alexander the Great, Leonard da Vinci and Richard the Lion Heart. When Richard freed his imprisoned bride-to-be, Berengaria of Navarre, in 1191, Cypriots all across the island seized on the opportunity to have a party!

What you will learn about the Cypriots is that food is the convergence point around which everything takes place. When you taste the local dishes you will see why!
