Hades

Son of Kronos ans brother of Zeus and Poseidon, Hades controled the underworld.The underworld was also known as Hades and was guarded by a dog called Cerberus. Charon brought the dead in his boat on the river and lake of Acheron.As the people of antiquity associated the underworld with the wealth- producing power of the earth Hades was called Pluton and was considered the god of vegitation, productivity and wealth. He kidnapped Peresphone, daughter of Demeter and took her as his wife. To appease Demeter he agreed that Peresphone could spend eight months on earth.


Asklepios

Apollo fell in love with Koronis, daughter of Phlegyas who was the son of Ares and ruled in Lakereia in Thessaly. When he lay with her she had already arranged her marrige to Ischys, son of the king of Arkadia. When the time came for the wedding, a white crow took the news to Apollo who was so angry that he changed the bird into a black one, Killed Ischys and sent Aretimis to kill Kronis. As she was pregnant, he took the baby from her, just before she died and placed it in the care of the Centaur Cheiron on Pelion. This baby was Asklepios. He was taught by the wise centaur to care for the sick. He made great progress and was even able to raise the dead. This provoked the anger of Zeus who killed him with a thunderbolt.
