IMPORTANT!
1. ELECTRICITY
Whilst electricity is included in the rental cost, please note that air conditioning does consume large amounts of electricity. Please therefore ensure that the units are turned off when the rooms are not in use or when you leave the villa.
To ensure maximum efficiency of the units, please close doors and windows when the units are in use. Optimum temperature to run the units at is 21 Degrees. Lower than this can cause water condensation on the walls if the conditions are humid enough.
A surcharge may be applied if the air conditioning units are continually left in operation whilst you are not in the property.

2. BATHROOM
The toilet system in Cyprus is NOT equipped for the disposal of feminine hygiene products nor large items such as nappies, baby wipes, ear buds. These items or similar must be disposed of in the bin provided.

Safety First
Most properties are equipped with fire extinguishers and first aid kit. Note where these are and all exits in case of fire. Even though Cyprus is considered a safe country…….
Please lock the property when out, and protect your valuables at all times. If your property is equipped with a safe please leave this unlocked and open on your departure.
For Aphrodite Hills clients – as the resort is built in its natural environment please note that there are various indigenous snakes that are seen from time to time. Please contact emergency numbers in this instance. Do not attempt to handle the snake yourself.

On Arrival take a walk around to familiarize yourself with the property and appliances.
Most apparatus like air con units have isolator switches with a red light somewhere below the unit.

When AIR CONDITIONER units are on, the doors must be closed for proper use and cooling of the room. Turn these OFF when you go out. Set the temperature for 20-22 Celsius for cooling, to set then lower will not cool the room more but may cause overload, dripping or complete burn out. For the cooler months they may be set to heat.

If Hot Water is required find the isolator switch with red light. This is usually located in the corridor by the bathroom light next to the bathroom door. Turn on 1 hour prior to using the bath and then turn it off as thermostats do not operate for prolonged periods.
NB: Please remember to switch these off on your departure.
If hot water operates from a diesel/oil burner, this will be turned on prior to your arrival. Please do not re-programme the control panel as this is automatic.

Living Room
Avoid sitting on the sofas with wet or sandy swimming costumes.
The TV, DVD and other items such as DVD’s and books are for your use and the client’s to follow. Please DO NOT remove any items from the property.
Do not burn any candles that are for decoration purposes. Some properties are non smoking. Kindly smoke outside and use the ashtrays provided.

Sky TV
Properties with Sky free to air package: Please note Cyprus is at the edge of the satellite foot print and BBC1 & ITV are not always clear and in some cases, completely available. Winds and clouds are a further cause of distortion and regrettably this out of our control.

Bedroom
Clean linen is already supplied and fitted.
You will find bath and hand towels. Please use your own beach towels for your outing.

Kitchen
You will find utensils and equipment you need in various cupboards and drawers.
When using the hob, turn on and use the extractor fan, by activating an isolator switch with red light on the wall for proper ventilation.
At the end of your stay please empty the bins and dispose in the community bins outside the villa.
Cook and bake carefully.
The BBQ’s operated by gas have an on/off switch on the gas bottle itself, if no gas is coming out check to see this switch is not in the off position.
An iron and ironing board are provided. Do not forget to turn off the iron.
Please clean up unwanted food as pests like ants find food quickly.

Trash
Aphrodite Hills – At the gate entrance find double doors built into the property wall.
Other Areas – Find large green bins usually on the roadside.

Outside
Please use beach towels on the sun loungers for hygienic reasons. Please close umbrellas after use or if the wind picks up. Use only plastic cups outside. Keep gates closed & supervise young children.

Swimming Pool
It is a must to shower and remove suntan cream/oil and dirt from feet prior to swimming.
If your pool has heating it must be covered at all times when not in use, or it will loose temperature.

Driving In Cyprus
Road signage is good and the motorway inter connecting cities is excellent.
City and town driving: Trying to work out what the other driver is going to do is the difficult part. Never pull out onto a road until you see the oncoming traffic initiate their turn. Indicators seem to be redundant for the better part in Cyprus. Ignore the angry farmer hooting at you whilst you wait.
Roads in towns are narrow and parking is difficult.
Believe it or not: It is illegal to use cell phones whilst driving even though most people have it locked to there ear.
As always, do not drink and drive. Police do run spot checks and the laws are strict.
Speed limits on the motor way are controlled by hand held radar guns. Police vehicles in Cyprus tend to drive around with their blue flashing lights so don’t worry if one is behind you (unless you have your phone in your hand, or you are traveling at 130 kph). Plan your trips in advance and have your maps handy.

Petrol Stations
After hours they are self-service with cash or credit card. Please read the instructions before operating. Most have a telephone number in case of problems.
