Paphos | Protaras | Nicosia | Limassol | Larnaca | Troodos
The Troodos Mountain range is in the centre of the island and in summer is a haven for those preferring cooler temperatures. In winter enough snow falls on Mount Olympus, the highest peak, to allow winter skiing. There are many picturesque villages and clear mountain streams in this area as well as many churches and monasteries, the most well known one being Kykko Monastery built in the 11th century.
Village Kakopetria Sitting at the foot of the Troodos moutain range Kakopetria is a village frequented by holidaymakers the world over. The views, houses on the slopes and restaurants dotted along the main street are something to behold. Village ladies offering their locally made jams, pickles and other delicacies outside their old traditional houses, with balconies hanging over the narrow streets, makes this a photographer's or historian's paradise. The crisp atmosphere and mountain streams running through the village add to its natural beauty. The most visited spot is 'The Mill' which is an ancient mill that was built onto the rock escarpment with the perennial stream meandering over the rocks below towards its final destination. Just above that is the magnificent Mill Hotel that blends in with the environment. Famous for its delicious trout cooked to perfection, they serve lunch throughout the afternoon in their large restaurant or on the balcony both of which are on the top floor and offer spectacular views of the surrounding area. Bookings have to be made well in advance due to the high through fare. The drive to and from the village is organised via coach tours for those who prefer to be driven, alternatively you can find your own way there easily if you have hired a car. To make enquiries about the hotel please Contact Us:. for more information. Please view the album below to see more of this quaint village that has remained unchanged for centuries.
Village Omothos Welcome to wine country! The villageof Omothos is quite possibly one of the most visited destinations in Cyprus. This is largely due to its untainted natural beauty and the fact that it home of the wine estates where free wine tasting is the order of the day. The village welcomes you with cobbled streets, traditional homes and people and a true feelig that you have stepped back in time. Take tours of the local ancient wine press machines whiel sampling the wines that have made the area famous. The traffic in the streets is that of local villagers
with their donkeys carrying grape sacks on their sides after a day in
the fields. Local souveniers and lace fabrics can be picked up from the
side shops that can be found on the main road that also houses the local
taverns and cafes. As Omothos is situated within the Troodos mountain
range the surrounding scenery is exquisite. Day trips are arranged to
the village by the touring companies. We can make a no cost enquiry on
your behalf so please do contact us.
